Parolee Job Placement
Chris Harris has run a program to help recent, non-violent, offender parolees from/living in the Ivanhoe Neighborhood to find employment immediately after their release. For this jump-start, Chris requires the parolees to enroll in a series of self-help, career-building programs. His success has been remarkable. His Graduates, each with a personal success story in the program, now join him in giving a helping hand to direct, mentor, and jump-start new parolees. HP intends to incorporate this program into its offering in reaching the needs of Ivanhoe citizens.
Ivanhoe is an economically-depressed area with considerable urban blight. Overtime, HP would like to be directly involved, albeit not financially, in promoting Ivanhoe as a place for new local businesses, entrepreneurs, and companies willing to hire Ivanhoe neighbors to develop the area.
In conjunction with the Land Trust, Habitat for Humanity, HP may have an opportunity to acquire, re-hab, and sell one or two blighted homes a year. The re-hab would be undertaken by Ivanhoe Neighbors as part of an educational, learning-trades activity. If successful, HP could slowly improve the neighborhood as well as provide our Neighbors with opportunities to learn skills/ trades that would enhance their employment opportunities.
Also have a new partnership with McDonald’s on Emanuel Cleaver Boulevard for job placement.
